Most recently, Barry served as Chief Executive Officer of Party City, a global leader in the celebrations industry and a leading omni-channel retailer of party goods with more than 700 stores in North America. He was brought in to lead the turnaround of the financially struggling retailer and deliver the best celebration experience to customers. Within four months, his efforts redefined the company strategy, successfully executed key restructuring initiatives to enhance cash flow, revenue, and EBITDA, and championed better execution both in-store and online.

For six years, Barry served as Chief Executive Officer of Global Industrial Company (NYSE: GIC), transforming the $1.3B distributor into a top ten distribution leader in industrial supplies. During his tenure, Barry implemented the Accelerating the Customer Experience (ACE) strategy to establish a customer-centric vision, which served as the company’s competitive advantage. Under his leadership, Global Industrial served over 1M customers across manufacturing, transportation, retail, and healthcare and successfully acquired Indoff in May 2024.

At GIC, Barry drove meaningful change by igniting employee engagement and assembling a world-class management team. He also revitalized the brand proposition, enhanced the online experience, strengthened the direct sales force, and expanded the North American distribution network. These efforts propelled market-leading revenue, profit, and share price growth, earning “Best Places to Work” certification.

Previously, Barry was CEO of Adorama, where he successfully turned around this iconic omnichannel retailer of professional cameras, photo-finishing services, and consumer electronics. By implementing the FOCUS strategy, he aligned initiatives to enhance customer experience and revitalize financial, marketing, merchandising, operational, and cultural practices. Adorama achieved double-digit growth in revenue, profit, and market share during his leadership.

Barry also brings extensive leadership experience from roles at Sears, Office Depot, and Premier Farnell/Avnet, where he honed his ability to lead digitally connected, customer-centric enterprises.
